5410 INFRARED DETECTION RESPONSE

  5410 Sensor - Description

The Type 5410 Sensor operates as a 'stand alone' detector without the need of a local controller. The unit has a high environmental protection rating and is in effect sealed against the ingress of dust and water.
A dual detector watertight sensing module is located within a polychromatic outer housing which is mounted by means of an adjustable bracket permitting alignment in both vertical and horizontal planes.
The outer housing is equipped with a hose spigot for connection to an air supply and thus a positive pressure 'air jacket' is provided to the inner module in order to keep the lens windows clean in dusty environments. A pressure switch monitors the air supply and a fault condition is signaled on purge failure.
Green and red LEDs provide indication of Normal and Fire Trip conditions.
The device has two principal user selectable operating modes:-
LOW POWER MODE sets the unit to operate with low current drain over a wide supply voltage range. This permits, in many cases, direct connection to fire panel trigger circuits, or addressable loop interface modules, without the need for a separate power supply feed. Fire and fault signaling is determined by the connection of appropriate Alarm and EOL resistors.
In this LP mode the 5410 may also be operated in conjunction with a Patol 5420 interface unit via a two wire connection. The 5420 DIN rail mounting modules which provide diagnostic indicators and relay contact outputs may be readily configured into remote multi-channel control panels.
RELAY MODE has a tighter voltage, and higher current, supply requirement. Integral fire and fault relays are enabled, the volt free change over contacts of which may be employed for signaling without the need of any further local equipment.

The "detection response" chart indicates the correlation between the temperature and size of ‘hot spot’ anomalies for a typical installation to produce one or more detector channel activations at various trigger level settings. Exact response is dependant on the emissivity factor of the monitored material, sensor orientation and target speed.
